Here is the brief write up of the challenge —Vinegar v2 .

This challenge falls under Cryptography Category and is of Easy Difficulty level.

In this challenge, there is a .md file given which contains a cipher text. In the description “ I forgot what I pored vinegar with. But i know its of length 6”.So we need to find the key.But as the length of key is given, we can find using that.

As the name of the challenge gives an idea that the given attached file is the Vigenere Cipher text and we need to decrypt it using a Vigenere Cipher text decrypter, where we have the length of key as “6” .Now decrypting it can give aout 50 strings , among them one is the flag. As the flag should be of the form inctfj{….} searching for the string in this format will give the flag.

In the above image we can see key length is given and we can find many strings and the one which has the flag format has the key ‘ORANGE’ .So the flag is obtained.
